Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

By providing asylum seekers with English on a weekly basis (that they may not otherwise have been able to access) has helped the asylum seekers to improve their English and put them in a better position to gain a job or access volunteering opportunities. This project also increased volunteering as we utilised volunteers to support the hub. Some of the asylum seekers have also volunteered in our cafe to help with the food being provided for the asylum seekers.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

The asylum hub has promoted diversity in the area. Many of our asylum seekers have now got refugee status and are part of the local community.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

The hub promoted health and activity as we partnered with the zoo to do wellbeing workshops for the asylum seekers which included nature walks. It also enabled access to our health worker, so that people had access to advice and information around health issues.
