The potential of our building is huge! “The building is home of the Bollington Pre-School and the girl guides and brownies. Bollington Initiative Trust are working to establish a multi-functional Family Hub, restoring and reinvigorating the building for present and future generations’ use. We need your help to fund the installation of a lift to give full accessibility to all to the first floor. This is not just for people who have physical disabilities, but for parents or grandparents who have young children with buggies, and all the other paraphernalia that comes with getting out and about with a young family. We want to be able to make the whole building family and disability access friendly, so that everyone can feel welcome and can join in with the activities and services that will be available.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Once works are complete, the Family Hub will accommodate pre-school childcare and early years’ education services, with a renewed emphasis on accessibility and inclusion across the learning and physical disability spectrum; including sensory play facilities; extra-curricular recreational activities including music tuition, language classes, arts and crafts; affordable breakfast/after school club and school holiday provision; adult education and vocational training courses for parents/carers seeking to return to work or retrain to help better their families’ life experiences and prospects – and supportive crèche facilities; a café promoting healthy eating, seasonal and nutritious meal-making from scratch and running inclusive, skill-building workshops for children, young people and parents. In addition, many local community groups will use the space in the building as well adding to the range of learning, recreational and well-being activities on offer locally without having to travel.
Steps to get it done:
We know that funding of the lift is a big undertaking, but any donations, however small will all add up and help us reach our goal to make the Family Hub a vibrant accessible place for the community to enjoy for many years to come.
