The Bollington Initiative Trust (BIT) is a registered charity. Our purpose is to helps to preserve Bollington’s unique environment and heritage, for the benefit of our local community. The Trust works hard acquiring and managing land and buildings which may otherwise be lost or developed for private sector housing, and saving places for local people to use and enjoy. We have been in existence for around 15 years and, whilst we have worked on many plans and concepts, there are three main projects in the local vicinity, one of which is the Water Street Family Hub for which we are currently raising funds to install a lift to provide access for all and support inclusivity for not only for people with physical disabilities, but also for families with small children and the buggies, etc they need to use.
Our other projects include Tinker Clough, which is a woodland area which forms a link between the canal and the Middlewood way, and is a green space used extensively by the local community as well as supporting wildlife and biodiversity. Turner's Lodge was a disused and derelict toilet block which now is an eco-friendly office and showroom for a local company.
