Faiths4Change is a dynamic, community environmental charity established in 2010 and operating across the North West of England. Our current activity is on Merseyside and in Cheshire. Our mission is to work in partnership with others to create a truly just and sustainable world where all flourish. We are not a religious organisation but draw on our multi-faith and environmental roots to utilise the common ground of caring for the Earth and all inhabitants as a whole. We have 3 interrelated climate change focused areas of activity, all are rooted in co-creating partnership projects:
1. Land - community gardens/ growing & relaxing spaces, open to all - improving emotional, physical & social health & wellbeing, enhancing biodiversity
2. Creative Circular Economy - education & skills with whole school & local communities to understand the social, economic & environmental costs of waste & to promote a socially just circular economic approach
3. Faith & Climate Change - working with faith communities to support them to reduce their carbon footprints & enhance biodiversity on land owned; drawing on and aligning with climate strategies and resources from a range of secular and activist partners to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Our Water Stories project brings together our core areas of work and our passion for working with people to share, learn and act together to create, transform and sustain neighbourhood environments that nourish people and the Earth. Our approach is gentle, inquisitive, respectful and open - we learn and delight in nature together and know that our connections enable us to change our behaviours, create new approaches and networks collaboratively for the benefit of all.
“The source of a river, a tear duct of the earth. The source of a river is always a matter of particular fascination. Its very mention brings out the explorer in all of us.”
Roger Deakin, Notes from Walnut Tree Farm, 2009.
"My garden is a lively place
There’s always something happening,
There’s this constant search for food
And then there’s all that flowering,
When you have a garden
You will never be alone
And I believe we all deserve
A garden of our own."
Benjamin Zephaniah, Nature Trail, 2021
