The idea
VIVA! VEGAN PEPPER STREET E14 is a new community café and food waste prevention initiative providing volunteer and training opportunities, nutrition and healthy eating courses along with job creation for the local Isle of Dogs community in Pepper street E14. VIVA! VEGAN will turn an unused space in Pepper Street E14 into a community café, creating jobs for the community whilst diverting food waste from landfill. It is a collaboration between Tim Barklem of Rejuvenate UK CIC and Shabina Rama of NaturFresh to setup a vegan community cafe called VIVA! VEGAN that takes waste food from local department stores and delivers high quality vegan food made from waste for the community and serviced by local disadvantaged young people from the local community thus not only providing fresh organic vegan food along with courses on Nutrition (thus also educating the public and local young people about healthy eating and healthy diet) but also providing jobs and help boost the local economy.
What we'll deliver
- Create a community café
- Divert food from waste
- Provide jobs and volunteering opportunities
Why it's a great idea
VIVA VEGAN will also provide a takeaway delivery service thus also creating and providing jobs, skills and training for the local community of the isle of dogs in E14 whilst helping the environment by diverting waste food going to Landfill from department stores. VIVA! VEGAN PEPPER STREET E14 is therefore an innovative VEGAN community café healthy food initiative run by the community and for the community.
