To create 24/7 online access to the town centre and to a series of major community events via a web cam mounted in the market place
The town is constructing a 1Gb 'fibre to the premise' broadband network with free community wifi in the town centre supported by local business. The network is being built by UK company Gigaclear.
It is proposed to mount a high quality wifi powered web cam in the market place with 24/7 online access.
Online viewers will be able to view a series of major community events in the market place, including the famous Stilton Cheese Classic Vehicle event and the unique Uppingham Fatstock Show.
Viewers will be made aware of the camera by a series of Twitter and Facebook campaigns and a link on the Uppingham First web site at www.uppinghamfirst.co.uk .

Uppingham First is the award winning community partnership for the small market town of Uppingham in Rutland. Its board has seven business directors elected from the local Business Forum, three Community Directors elected from the Uppingham Neighbourhood Forum, A Town Council Representative and a County Council representative.
The Partnership is currently leading on the development of a Neighbourhood Plan for Uppingham, is the principal advocate for the use of electric vehicles in Rutland and is supporting the installation of a 1Gb fibre to the premise broadband network with community wifi across the town. The Partnership's quarterly online Golden Ticket initiative, viewable at www.uppinghamfirst.co.uk has attracted international acclaim and offers high street visitors the opportunity to search for ten Golden Tickets (redeemable at local shops) hidden around the town which are worth up to £300.
Uppingham First is chaired by local and international businessman Robert Wills of Arnold Wills & Co. Company Secretary is Chartered Manager Ron Simpson, proprietor of RMJS Associates and Digital Rutland Ltd.
