We are a Neighbourhood Forum designated by Barnet Council in September 2014 to write the Neighbourhood Development Plan for Mill Hill Ward and the NW7 post codes in Hale Ward.
While this huge task is progressing well we have initiated many projects that are delivery focused to benefit the local residents and business leaders. We are running Street Markets to assist us in engaging with local people as part of our consultation process. We have developed with AECOM Consultants a Masterplan for our Town Centre and we have initiated the redevelopment of the Mill Hill Broadway mainline station where a feasibility study is now underway, to consider how a multi-storey car park and Hotel complex can be built on the current Council owned surface car park. The height of the resulting structures will facilitate a bridge across the railway with lifts to the platforms to provide much needed step-free access for passengers. Further commercial investment will be encouraged to support the total redevelopment of the station, & it's bus terminal. The M1 dissects our Town Centre next to the mainline and we suffer badly from noise & air pollution. We are talking to Highways England about remedial action to remove the 5 DEFRA designated Noise Hot spots with a similar solution as that being trialled alongside the M40 at High Wycombe with solar/noise proof barriers. We have provided a new cricket pavilion in the park (with a Council grant) and are currently attempting to create a pocket park in our Town Centre with funding from Tesco. Further we are working with the Council to demolish an old unsightly building in the Park and to replace it with a Community Hub. We are forming a Charity limited by Guarantee to fund raise for what is likely to be a £4m build cost and then to operate the centre. A partnership library may also be located in this NW7Hub subject to further discussions with the Council.
We have a strong committee (30 people) of local residents who are passionate about improving Mill Hill.
