The idea
We know it’s a trend to repurpose items into wearable, usable new items that can be sold to make money towards a community project. We want Trends to stick, and harness the power of ACTION.
But, Imagine if what you do could change and challenge how we live our lives in the future. Imagine if your actions of turning rubbish into bags, jewellery, clothes and items for your home could make society Rethink about where rubbish goes and how this impacts the WORLD especially in poorer countries. Imagine if your actions of learning creative skills for you and your kids could create an income stream that you could live a life better than what you did before …and be happier remaking and repurposing and being a role model of sustainable change. What if we created an online shop that brought community together to make and resell to put the profit to greater use for everyone. Lastly… imagine if we became the catalyst for an education program and forced big companies to address their ways…Imagine !
What we'll deliver
- Create a space for professional upcycling to take place and train volunteers
- Build a local movement of upcycling education on social media
- Develop The community skills in business online and at the shop base
- Build a base for education on upcycling /sustainability issues to be delivered to corporate & public agencies
- Base will provide accredited programs for volunteers
Why it's a great idea
Bringing communities together of like minded individuals will harness the power of possibility. The bigger benefits is when we attract the non likeminded individuals who want to understand the issue and then become part of the solution. When we make together and learn creative skills it builds harmony on the body and mind that often transcends to their families and communities and develop a movement of change to start to take care of the community we live in…its our HOME. We hope to build strategic partnerships with the council, retail outlets and bigger businesses so we can open doors and create jobs in this sector of sustainable living as this is not a trend its a duty we all need to address.
When we allow young and old to make fashionable items and sell online or in a shop and know it came from an old leather couch, or jewellery from plastic or curtains to kimonos then and only then have we become the solution to a problem and we make money doing it…as well as gain skills …win win
Steps to get it done
- 400 learners onto our programs in year one
- Develop a social media campaign on the. Valuable role of upcycling and change in consumeris
- Recruit 15 volunteers in first year
- Develop an online and offline shop to sell the items of upcycle items
UPCYCLELOLA could be the vision that becomes a reality so we force society to Rethink Rubbish and cause a movement that is creative and has meaning but much more than this …it potentially can gain momentum is unemployed and working come together to learn skills that is for the greater good.
We give the paid volunteer opportunities to work along side us learn our ethos then we employ them.
Boosting the economy for local people to consider a job and get off benefits
Arts and culture is now an alien concept to many due to cuts in the arts so learning skills using arts in sewing, painting and selling the goods will help the planet and promote education in this field.
By creating a social media campaign that educates, shows how to videos live makes involvement easy and encourage to come to face to face programs especially after COVID yes people are still afraid to get involved. Wellbeing can be achieved together and reduce isolation Be the Change You Want to see in the World…better togeth
