The idea
The UNIT25 BLOCK PARTY
Saturday 26th September - midday - 7pm
Colina Mews N15 3HS
Local DJs and musicians
Food from Pink Cactus (Mexican), Sunset (Jerk Chicken), Bone T (soup/broth bar)
Harringay Local Store.
And much more...
This is a new community venture - presented as a special free street party with music, food and cultural vibes. Local businesses will help to make the day swing, with a special large-scale artwork by the Turnpike Art Group being created as the backdrop. All attending the party will be able to take part in a bit of painting. We are seeking funds to make the special Madame Colina mural.
What we'll deliver
- Engage all visitors to the event with the potential to learn a little about street art
- Purchase all necessary materials
- Ultimately build a bridge with community members and local businesses through music, art and good local food.
- Add the names of attendees to the wall as a memory of the community involved
- Liaise with the organisers to create a special London event
- Paint the space with the names of young and old who come along.
- Research, design, mock-up, then create the Madame Colina artwork over three days
Why it's a great idea
The UNIT 25 Street Party will run as a celebration of the community spirit. This bespoke artwork will be made by and for those who live in the area or visit on the day.
Steps to get it done
- With helping hands of all sizes and colours
- Hard graft
- Three days of painting and pasting
This is the first UNIT 25 event. If successful the plan is to create an annual community event, open to all.
