Updates
‘Today we’ve brought our crowdfunding campaign to a close. We’ve been overwhelmed by the level of support we’ve received for our campaign - which has raised £1,000 more than our target and a month ahead of our planned end date! We’ve received some very significant donations - but also lots of contributions from our local community - thanks to everyone for your support. Over the coming months we’ll start investing in updating and renewing our lifesaving kit - with updates to follow on our social media channels as we start to get some of our new equipment.’
Whoop, 40 people have pledged since fundraising began!
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported our Crowdfunder to date. Early on in the campaign we received a huge boost from the North of Tyne Combined Authority who committed to providing half the total if we managed to get a certain number of backers - which thanks to great community support, we did. This support from the Authority was crucial in getting the process rolling and we’re so very thankful for their generosity. Last week, as we launched the next phase of our campaign to move towards the final total, we were overwhelmed to receive a second significant donation. This came from the family of a 19 year-old man we helped rescue at King Edward’s Bay in mid-June. The man is believed to have hit the seabed while swimming and suffered potentially life-changing injuries. Brigade members provided first aid to him - and then worked very carefully with the North East Ambulance Service to move him from the beach to an Ambulance. To reach the target so promptly is amazing - to receive such a generous donation from a family going through a horrendous period is humbling. We are a community rescue group here to help those in need and we all wish the young man the very best as he continues to recover from his injuries. Although we’ve reached our initial target, the campaign will continue till the end of July with any additional funds to be spent on further improving our rescue equipment - and the personal protective equipment utilised on every call by our volunteers. Thanks again to everyone who has shared, liked and donated towards our campaign 🙏
Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
