Turf Projects is a not-for-profit artist-led organisation co-directed by a group of artists, filmmakers and architects. We've been working together with an ever-growing number of artists and curators to create free, high quality exhibitions and events for the area since October 2013. We aim to engage with the Croydon community - shining a spotlight on the diverse, rapidly changing cultural landscape of Croydon and providing opportunities for local residents and visitors of all ages to be involved whilst simultaneously being engaged with contemporary art and emerging artist practices.
All of TURF’s Directors are graduates with formal training in the Arts, and have been working on a voluntary basis to put on ambitious events including successful Kickstarter campaign No Turf Unturned! and most recently outdoor sculpture exhibition Putt Putt #2, Stones of Croydon fortnightly drawing tours, outdoor film screenings, artist designed posters for the public realm in collaboration with Fungus Press and weekly workshops with Club Soda, a group of artists with learning difficulites. TURF’s ethos is bent upon being fun and accessible to all the community, whilst simultaneously engaged with contemporary art and emerging artist practices.
Through a shared vision for the growth and renewal of Croydon we've worked with regeneration organisation Pocket Places at Reeves Corner, Museum of Croydon as part of the Big Draw Festival, Croydon Council, Club Soda, Croydon International Film Festival, Matthews Yard, muf architecture/art, Croydon Partnership, Stanhope & Schroders, We Made That, Croydon Tech City and Croydon School of Art as well as many smaller Croydon-based organisations.
