The idea
We believe strong communities are built on strong people — and that wellbeing should never be a luxury.
NEU Wellbeing Community is a Leicester-based project bringing Positive Wellbeing for All to the heart of our neighbourhoods. Over 12 months, we’ll deliver free workshops, peer-led training, and safe, supportive spaces for local people to reconnect, rebuild confidence, and learn practical tools for managing stress, emotions, and relationships.
Our approach is grounded in lived experience — shaped by facilitators who have overcome trauma, exclusion, and adversity to create positive change. Each session combines evidence-based practice (including trauma-informed methods) with real-life stories that make the learning relatable and empowering.
Across community centres, food banks, and youth hubs, NEU will help hundreds of Leicester residents strengthen their mental, emotional, and social wellbeing — reducing isolation and promoting resilience city-wide.
What we'll deliver
- Deliver 20 community wellbeing workshops across Leicester, focused on the six pillars of wellbeing.
- Train 20 volunteers and community staff in trauma-informed, practical wellbeing support.
- Create a sustainable Wellbeing Toolkit to help local hubs continue supporting residents long after funding ends.
- Establish Lived-Experience Ambassadors — local people who share their stories to inspire others and break stigma.
Why it's a great idea
NEU Wellbeing Community will bring people together across Leicester to build confidence, connection, and resilience. Through free, trauma-informed workshops and training, we’ll help residents manage stress, boost self-esteem, and strengthen relationships in safe, supportive spaces. Our approach combines lived experience and evidence-based wellbeing practices so that every person feels seen, valued, and capable of change. Volunteers and community staff will gain tools to support others, helping local hubs embed wellbeing long after funding ends. This project will reduce isolation, improve mental health, and create stronger, more compassionate neighbourhoods—where wellbeing becomes part of everyday life.
