Friends of Mount Farm Way pond was established in November 2018, initially a small group of residents who agreed to give up their weekends to recover a sadly neglected pond, the aim being to create a safe welcoming place for all to enjoy whilst also creating habitats for local wildlife. The group has grown and there is now a small army of volunteers that meet on a regular basis to maintain the area.
The group are well supported by by local councillors Peter Wheeler and Christine Warner as well as green space officers within the local council. We have worked closely with as many agnecies as possible to improve the area but the 'jobs' left on our list cannot be completed by man power alone, they require funding! Whilst we have been successful gaining funds from some small local companies our wish list requires a far greater investment.
As a group we are proud that our efforts to date have been recognised by Northwest in Bloom and we were awarded Level 4, Thriving with 80 out of a possible 100 marks achieved in the neighbourhood awards in August 2022.
