More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

Our outdoors adventures project was focussed on supporting adults with disabilities to access natural spaces for the good of their health and wellbeing. The sense of wellbeing we get from nature is in part from feeling connected to life and beauty of it. Members learned a lot about the environment through information giving in sessions and this included the role of humans in impacting the environment. We used litter-picking sessions as a way to give back positively to the spaces that help us to maintain good wellbeing and as a practical way for us to consider and think about our impact.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Participants in outdoor adventures sessions were invited to interact with the outdoors through various creative means and record their reflections creatively. This included Plein-air painting, working together to write a poem, and making a map of local woodland. These creative responses deepened participant understanding and has been carried forward into arts activities inside the centre.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

We've been to the following spaces with members to participate in sports and movement: F51 skatepark, Radnor Park (inc. outdoor Gym), West Wood (lyminge), Brocke Hill Country Park, Samphire Hoe, Kingsnorth Gardens, Kearsney Abbey, Beaches in Folkestone and more. Our activities in these spaces have been supported by the equipment invested in as part of this funding including: first-aid kits, and sports equipment.
