More about our impact
The environment
We've turned a disused space into a useable space. We've made it more environmentally friendly by improving insulation and more efficient heating. We've used reclaimed materials where possible.
The local economy
Our project has so far offered a range work opportunities to local tradespeople and makers. As we are in the restoration phase and not open yet this can only improve. We are talking to local businesses on our road and working out ways that we can collaborate and make the road more vibrant, and help them thrive. We hope to offer far more work to local artists in the future and to make the town centre a more attractive place to visit.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We have worked with a wide range of volunteers of all ages, sharing skills and knowledge, building confidence and friendship circles.
Arts, culture & heritage
Our project will be completely focused on arts and culture. We have just submitted an Arts Council project fund application which we hope will enable us to employ a number of artists and bring shows and exhibitions to the space.
Activity, health and leisure
All our volunteering opportunities have involved physical activity, and created a sense of wellbeing for all those involved. We make people feel valued and proud of their contribution, we share images of them on social media as thanks if they are in agreement.
