Great Western Air Ambulance Charity provides advanced emergency medical care to people across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and parts of Wiltshire when they are at their most critically ill or injured.
Alongside the extraordinary level of medical skills and equipment our crew bring to the scene, it's what happens prior to our arrival that can save a life. That early action from the public recognising cardiac arrest, starting CPR, and accessing a defibrillator forms the most critical part of the chain of survival.
That is why we are committed to strengthening that chain in local communities by improving access to publicly available defibrillators in areas where they are needed most. and training the community on CPR.By increasing the number of publicly accessible AEDs in residential streets, villages, and community spaces, we are helping ensure that lifesaving equipment is available within the first few critical minutes .Once drab and lifeless Bristol alleyway could now save a life
Our goal is to reduce avoidable deaths from cardiac arrest by installing 3 public access defibrillatorsin Stroud and empowering communities to act quickly in an emergency.
Every defibrillator installed in Stroud will make the community more resilient to medical emergencies and will help give more people the chance to survive and return to their families. We currently have over 200 publicly accessible defibrillators registered on the Circuit UK and serve people across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset,South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire providing everyone who lives around this areas their best of survival and we hope to do the same is Stroud
Below is a screengrab of our mapping tool showing all publicly accessible defibs in Stroud. The black dots indicate a defib and the area is showing a dark green color showing more cardiac arrests

The project will also actively engage 3 volunteers who will check the defibs every month and report the status checks every month on the Circuit UK so the defibs are always available. We will also be having 1 more volunteer who will be stepping in to assist the original volunteers whenever they are not avaialable ensuring defibrillators are always emergency ready
