Regeneration of our Community Centre will offer a modern, safe and accessible space for local residents to come together, to reduce isolation and a build stronger community, improving their wellbeing.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
We are still waiting for the signed lease agreement. In the unlikely scenario that this isn't released, this campaign will be closed and all pledges refunded. We have a great building with a variety of spaces. We provide space to 13 organisations such as Young Carers, a Performing Arts School, Elderly support groups and Disability & General Wellness Groups. We support local businesses with low-cost training space. We have a good network of volunteers. We are starting a Community Café; enabling parents from Rudheath Primary Academy and other residents to reduce their isolation over breakfast & brunch. As part of this vision, we need to upgrade our building interiors, such as flooring, decoration, internal storage areas, new furniture and fittings to ensure it remains a safe, vibrant and accessible.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Our regeneration will aim to provide a welcoming space for local residents to interact, reducing the isolation of our most vulnerable residents and getting to know our local people, aiding the community view and knowledge sharing between our community, local support organisations and our PCSO teams. Training volunteers from the local area will improve the Training and Life Skills of volunteers supporting a reduction in N.E.A.T young people and improving job prospects too. Creating a better environment for the 13 groups who hire our community centre regularly and welcome over 550 visits per week. We hope to rise this number in excess of 750 visits per week by Easter 2023. Improving engagement with existing groups and for eg) a new main hall floor will allow our performing arts children's groups to practice without carpet burns and they are very excited to see a new space for the to develop their skills over the years to come, impacting over 100 children per week.
Steps to get it done:
We launched our Community Engagement in Mid 2022, we have decided on the following areas: Improved Access to groups and events for children with Disabilities and Adults with Learning Difficulties. Providing accessible themed Family Fun Days which are open to children of all abilities, paying particular attention to the challenges that those with disabilities might face. Providing upgraded facilities will help new groups to engage in the centre to create local growth and innovation of residents goals and small business ideas. Introduction of Community Café & Library Creating open sessions alongside dedicated sessions for those groups who need them in order to create a varied social network for all; Including New Parents, those with disabilities and our elderly residents, who may struggle to leave the parish. Run on the ethos of ‘Pay wit forward’ so no resident is excluded from engaging in their local community due to poverty. Providing a warm space for those who need it.
