About the Project Creator
The Kindness Studio started as an initiative to counter the pandemic with kindness through Art in Jan this year. Situated in Ebury Edge, next to the historical Chelsea Barracks and the Garrison Chapel, the pop-up studio started with the aim to encourage the community to start 2022 with kindness through a series of exhibitions and Workshop.
To date, the studio has organised 13 free weekly art exhibitions for
the community to initiate conversations about kindness through art. The studio also aims to be a happy sanctuary for a diversified portfolio of artists. We are proud to have showcased works by artists from a diverse background, of which Charlie French, our down syndrome artist was selected by Tate for an art collaboration on World Down Syndrome Day
In a span of 3 months, with only a tenner spend on Instagram ad, the studio grew organically through words of mouth, expanding from a portfolio of 2 to 21 artists, website sessions growing from 5 to 700 and Instagram followers from 10 to 300 plus. We were very lucky to have established partnering opportunities with Berkeley Group and Aged UK.
After this pop up, The Kindness Studio would like to continue bring kindness to the community with more art exhibitions and to focus on developing more art workshops and to combat neuro degenerative diseases such as Parkinson and down syndrome and continue with the existing upcycling kids’ workshop to promote sustainability and zero waste.
