The idea
We will deliver an interdisciplinary dance theatre project that explores issues of identity, displacement, loss, memory, belonging and nostalgia in times of global mobility. We will examine issues of identity and belonging of displaced people living in London and Brexit, and how they affect people’s lives. Project has 2 elements – 1) professional interdisciplinary dance theatre work with audience participation and 2) workshops for local residents in Church Street and Paddington Basin exploring the above themes. There will be 2 groups of local residents working with us at different times (and locations) – women only group and mixed group (men and women).

Steps to get it done
- Creating a professional show
- Performing 4 shows at the threatre
- Devising workshops for the community and finding artists to deliver them
- Delivering workshops to the local residents
We would like to deliver part of the project at the Cockpit Theatre and other local venues in the area. As we have experience of delivering classes in Church Street to local residents we have identified two groups of people who would benefit from the workshops – women only group in the mornings and mixed group with men and women in the evenings. Women only group caters for mothers, house-wives, part-time workers and members of Muslim community who don’t mix with men for religious reasons. Mixed group caters for men and women who work full and can only take part in activities after work. Both groups and wider community will benefit from the professional performance.
