Swell C of E Primary School is located in beautiful countryside in the heart of the Cotswolds. With just a small concrete playground on site, the school has access to a separate sports field, forest school and allotment. Unfortunately, this space is a 15-minute walk from the school grounds, and currently has no toileting facilities. This restricts the time to enjoy the space, with outdoor learning and play dictated by toilet breaks. We would love to enable and encourage the children to use this space for longer, as we know how important outdoor learning is for mental health and general wellbeing. Installing a green composting toilet, which is fully accessible to all, withwheelchair ramp and baby changing facilities is the perfect, environmentally friendly solution for our wonderful community. As well as the school, the toilet will also be available for the users of the local church and villagers who use the summer outdoor fitness classes and will enable the community to have

What we'll deliver:

• An environmentally friendly compositing toilet
• Fully accessible with wheelchair ramp and baby changing facilities
• Composting produce for shrubs and trees

Why it's a great idea:

This project will have many benefits, to include: 1. Supporting the mental health and general wellbeing of the school children, enabling more outdoor learning and play 2. Providing a useable greenspace for school and wider community events such as; sports day, summer fetes, end of school party & summer picnics 3. Providing toilet facilities for users of the local allotment 4. Giving the church usable green space for projects like "Muddy Sunday School” 5. Supporting ongoing village and school fundraising events without the need to hire in unsightly and expensive port a loo's. 6. Ultimately this project will provide a space that the children, community, parents and event attendees can enjoy for years to come.

Steps to get it done:

• Order and Take Delivery of the Toilet system and acessible Shed
• Assembly of the Accessible wooden building to house the Composting toilet
• Intstallation of the waterless Toileting System
• Instillation of grab rails, soap dispensers and Baby Changing Unit
• Installation of wooden storage bin to house full wheelie bins containing compost

FOSS: Friends of Swell School, is a committee made up of parents and staff working together to raise funds for Swell C of E Primary School. FOSS is a registered charity, number 1063782, whose aim is to generate money to enhance the children’s learning experience. In the past, funds have been used to purchase technology, book and outdoor learning equipment, as well as a much needed school extension and modernisation.
