Hi! I'm Claire Venus, I live with my husband David, two children and 6 pet chickens under dark skies on the Northumberland coast. We met at a yoga class in 2013. David's marriage had fallen apart, he was suffering with miltary induced PTSD and in our first 6 months as a couple we lost his brother, his mum and I fell pregant with our first child.
We moved from the city to re-wild by the coast in Northumberland. We were looking for a slower pace, for community, to learn how to garden and grow food and teach others what we'd learnt about yoga and creativity as a beautiful blend to engance wellbeing...
My company Creatively Conscious produces projects that use art for social change.
My work is underpinned by a co-creative community approach to environment and sustainability. I work with families, individuals, small and large business supporting them to create, engage and make lasting change to support their creative eco-systems and the envrironment.
I have two programme strands;
1. Inspiration Island–my work as an engagement/ audience development consultant/creative mentor
2. Retreat and re-wilding from our doorsteps in partnership with my husband who is a permaculture expert.
I am passionate about our 'slow paced' life which enables us both to spend time tending to our allotment garden, raising our children and doing work we are called to do. My husband trained in permaculture design in 2014 and has worked to make our three garden spaces sanctuarys for wildlife and humans alike! He partners with a local woodland to host re-wilding retreats and we host mini retreats here at home rooted in education around mindfulness, meditation, fermentation and re-wilding.
My clients include; Action for Children, National Trust, Tate Modern, Northumberland County Council and many other arts and cultural venues. My award winning projects act as catalyst for participants to find and using their creative voice through writing, art, photorgraphy and storytelling.
My husband's passion is working with ex miltary folk to help improve their quality of life and supporting those who have experienced trauma or long term ill health.
Together we run retreats and workshops which blend creativity with caring for the earth and ourselves.
We are passionate about reaching MORE communities with our work to turn waste foods into compost in a way that is easy, has no adour and creates a brilliant and delightful eco-system as part of the process.
