Making Aylesbury Vale the best possible place to live and work
The object of the charity is to relieve seniors by providing free of charge the specially designed Grab-Bag that will assist the emergency services when called. The GRAB-BAG is made from a tough microfibre and transparent PVC fabric with large loopy handle that can easily be slipped over a wrist or ankle during transition. It measures 23 x 10 x 14.5 with plenty of room to store the the MEDI-SOS ID form and the owners communication aids, the ID form and some small essentials. Every bag comes with the: Tri-fold ID form - To be kept inside the bag and placed in an easy-to-find location. Sticker pack - A selection stickers to be placed in various easy-to-see locations. Fridge magnet - Adhere to the fridge or any magnetic surface where the emergency services can easily see it and then locate the Grab-Bag. The printing of all the paperwork will be contracted out to the young offenders of HMP Aylesbury Prison.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Medi-SOS Grab-Bag and its copyright tri-fold form was designed by a committee of emergency services workers, carers and a GP with themselves and senior citizens in mind, as they had all experienced communication problems when transported from home to A&E in an emergency situation. This pilot project has been running for 9 months in the Chiltern & South Bucks District after gaining funds from Tescos and CDC to promote the project. It has been very well received not only by seniors, (especially those living alone) but also the emergency services who are always looking for practical ways to help seniors move from home to A&E. So far 450 bags have been distributed through clubs and societies and groups affiliated to BOPAG. We have the backing of the South Central Ambulance Service who would love to see the project extended throughout their region as do Carers Bucks. We now have the network set up with HMP Aylesbury so we are helping another area of our society move this on.
