Access to art and green spaces transforms lives. We - The Dig's volunteer gardeners - will invite an artist to grow and create with us for 12 months. This will attract more weekly volunteers, foster community in Hanwell and deepen connections to nature through art. But we need your help to raise 6k in seed funding. Without this, we can't submit our larger grant applications to NLHF and Arts Council England. The Dig is a new organic community garden in Hanwell, a steadily urbanising part of Ealing. Filled with fruit trees, a polytunnel, kitchen and wood-working shed, it's an urban oasis bursting with potential. But if not maintained, we could lose this valuable local asset. Having an artist will attract more weekly volunteers: already, 5 local groups have expressed interest. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an emerging artist. Attached with a generous budget, we invite them to develop their practice outdoors, with the seasons and with Hanwell.
