Great Torrington and District Community Development Trust
The Climate Changing Room Project
Torrington Community Development Trust is a small organisation responsible for the comunity building complex in Torrington. It currently houses Torrington Library, the Post office and Tourist Information Centre and Fork 'n' Feast Cafe. It also has rentable space currently occupied by a Work Hub and Artist Studio. There is also a thriving Community Hall all set in beautiful gardens maintained by volunteers. The Climate Changing Room Project is a new venture for the trust.
Aim of the Project
We wish to establish a community facility (The Climate Changing Room) which will
support people in adapting to climate and environmental change. It will provide:
* Up-to-date and balanced information about the impact of climate change;
* A global perspective on responses to climate and environmental damage;
* Guidance on sustainable adaptations for a changing climate;
* Signposting to emerging opportunities for study and occupational choices.
The project ethos will be one of helping people feel part of the collective response to the challenges of a climate changing world; and of generating hope to motivate individual and community action.
