In 2018 the project delivered free hampers to 300 families to families across The Black Country and Birmingham with 675 children who would have not been able to eat a traditional Christmas Lunch. 65 Wolverhampton families received a hamper.
The Team at Christmas Lunch project work together to food raise and fundraise to enable them to provide a free Christmas Lunch Hamper to families with children.
The Hampers contain all the ingredients to ensure that families can enjoy a Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings on Christmas Day. This includes a Frozen Turkey, Stuffing Mix, Cranberry Sauce, Gravy Mix, Fresh Potatoes and fresh vegetables in addition to chocolates, biscuits, fruit juice and other festive treats.
The team partners with organisations such as Schools, Churches and charities and Council Agencies to identify eligible families.
Hampers are delivered to family homes before Christmas by a team of volunteers.
The Project is organised and run entirely by volunteers who also source food and pack and deliver the hampers. 2019 will be the projects fourth year of operating. In year One 150 families were helped. Year two saw 250 familes helped and year three resulted in 300 families receiving a hamper. The first three years were funded though the regular saving of one individual as well as fundraising. in 2018 there was more demand for hampers in wolverhampton than the project could provide. Crowd fundng has been selected this year for 100 Wolverhampton families to ensure that no families are refused a hamper in 2019.
