The local economy

The local economy

The promotion of the exhibition generated a high number of visitors to The Atkinson, these were both local visitors and from the greater Merseyside area who also made use of local restaurants, cafes and shops as well as other local attractions.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

The project increased the number of volunteers on duty at The Atkinson who attended a briefing on the item and its value so that they could give knowledgeable responses to visitor questions.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

The project promoted the importance of conserving textiles for display in public museums showing that textiles are a valuable addition to standard items in exhibitions such as paintings and can be seen in themselves as a work of art. It also showed the depth of The Atkinson's collection and generated interest from those who value Asian culture.
