Guildford's Community & Wellbeing Centre Opening
Experience GuildfordThe Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Sallie Barker MBE says: “I’m really delighted to be here to open this new facility at the Institute…having helped and supported our town for over 100 years, it is wonderful to see that it is adapting and evolving to meet the changing needs of our community”.

More about our impact
The environment
We are using a part of the building that was standing empty, the conversion of the space is not only providing a place for hugely beneficial work to take place but we are also preserving the historic features of the building. During the conversion we have installed energy efficient lighting and heating, replacing the outdated and uneconomic services. Our contractors used sustainable materials and practices during the works.
The local economy
By creating a new space for mental health support services we are attracting more visitors to the area. The renovation works were carried out by a local building company. Overall the community & wellbeing centre has contributed to the economic vitality of the community by enhancing the appeal of the area.
Arts, culture & heritage
The new Community & Wellbeing Centre on the ground floor of our building allows us to utilise the whole of our building that is an important part of the local heritage. Clients attending appointments with counsellors and therapists are encouraged to engage in a variety of courses, lectures, health & wellbeing activities, and more.
Activity, health and leisure
The project has resulted in individuals discovering the diverse activities and leisure opportunities offered at the Guildford Institute
