More about our impact
The environment
The table tennis table has added another leisure dimension to Elmhurst Gardens, a small but popular park and gives yet another reason to visit and spend longer there. It creates further enjoyment for local people in their environment but has had a minimum impact on the park itself in terms of'look' and footprint.
The local economy
A local company was employed to source and fit the table.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Fundraising for this project and also a previous project related to wooden sculptures has kept local interest in in the park. This has helped to support the 'Friends of Elmhurst' community group which continues to thrive, including their initiative to reinstate action days where the local community can volunteers for an afternoon. 4 days have been run this year and have proved popular.
Activity, health and leisure
It has fulfilled our initial forecast to broaden the activities the park can provide and appeal to all sections of the general public including wheel chair users, teenagers and young people, who currently have limited provision in the park. It is a cross generation piece of equipment.
