Sydenham Arts' annual July Summer Festival - a multi-disciplinary celebration of the arts taking place over 10 days across Sydenham and Forest Hill. Theatre, Visual Arts, Music, Poetry and more!
Without the arts life would be much less enjoyable and we want to make sure that Sydenham and the surrounding areas are full of arts this July. At this stage the Summer line-up is already taking shape. An inspired campaign to make Sydenham known as the UK’s first POETRY TOWN is confirmed as the central jewel in the Summer Festival’s crown. With a plan to fill SE26 with verses by famous poets and locals of all ages. Sydenham’s imaginative contribution to the nationwide WW1 Centenary Celebrations will take the form of a GREAT WAR CLASSROOM. This will offer visitors young and old an immersive experience of the effect of the Great War on classrooms in SE London. Alongside this is the return of the Sydenham Comedy Festival, Festival in the Forest, klezmer band Balalaika and much more. Sydenham Arts is committed to making events accessible if not free; will attract people to the area from across London; and create numerous volunteering opportunities for local residents.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The annual July Festival brings the whole community together to celebrate the arts and our local area. The programme of events will showcase local emerging talent whilst also bringing world class acts to the area and workshops allow people to try new things or develop their skills.
