A concert to raise money for Surrey Care Trust, an amazing charity that provides learning, training and mentoring to support young people and adults in improving their chances in life, and celebrate their 40th Anniversary. The concert will take place on Saturday 28th May 2022 at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford and affordable tickets will be sold to fundraise. The music will be a fantastic opportunity for children and families to experience classical music, listen to different instruments and interact with them. Music is an inspiring and uplifting form of art which has many benefits and I hope to encourage people to enjoy this music. It will also provide an opportunity for experienced musicians to return to performing and for young rising stars, including children, to develop their courage and experience. The programme includes The Carnival of the Animals, composed by Camille Saint-Saëns which is great fun and has been a favourite with young audiences for over 100 years.

What we'll deliver:

  • A 90 minute classical music concert

Why it's a great idea:

There are three aims of this concert: 1. To raise funds and celebrate 40 years of Surrey Care Trust. Surrey Care Trust enables people to overcome the disadvantage of low skills, poor educational achievement, limited opportunities and tough financial circumstances. 2. To promote classical music to a wider audience, particularly children, encouraging them to enjoy the benefits associated with music and the mental health benefits. 3. To support musicians both those who are starting out and those who are well established as opportunities to perform have diminished due to the pandemic.

Steps to get it done:

  • Musicians: Jay Bevan ( clarinet) Hannah Burrows ( story teller- writer) Jonathan Budd ( piano ) Liz Holland (violin)
  • Venue has been booked and a deposit of £100 has been made
  • The rehearsal has been arranged on 14th May at Winston Church School
  • The rehearsal venue has been booked and paid

The programme includes: 1. Scheherazade for piano 4 hands by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. 2. Carmen the Cat and the Witch. World premiere with a narrator. Story by Hannah Burrows with music by Eralys Fernandez. 3. Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint Saens.
