To raise funding to purchase a second hand van and trailer to support the work already being carried out by Ride to Raise Cheshire CIC see web site for details: www.ridetoraise.co.uk
Ride to Raise is a CIC is based in Winsford & set up in 2022 to provide care packages to those in need, at shelters, in centres & to food banks & churches, using our motorbikes. We load up our panniers & deliver products to those in need and those contacting us using our online platforms. Growing out of our work to support those experiencing poverty, we’ve seen how interested people are in our motorbikes & decided to raise funds to provide a motorcycle social adventure experience and ride outs for members of our community who want to give it a try. Cheshire West and Chester locality officers, through the Spacehive platform, invited us to apply for funding and we raised £14,915 earlier this year for that project. We used this money to purchase the equipment needed to take up to 24 people plus staff on adventure experiences with a view to improving people's mental health, wellbeing and creating long term friendships and put on 6 events this year.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
A second-hand van & trailer will help the direct charitable aim of supporting those in poverty, by providing care packages, to shelters, distribution centres, food banks, churches and to individuals requesting them at home. For those interested in motorcycling & adventure, we offer ride outs & weekends away. The provision of second-hand van & trailer would be invaluable as a support tool. We would use the van to carry all equipment for 28 people camping & the trailer used for any breakdowns. A van & trailer will significantly improve the number of people we can help & increase the efficiency of distribution & help with safety on adventure experiences. The social benefits of our ride outs & adventure experiences, help people gain a sense of connection with others, build community & combat loneliness. This enhances people’s well-being, improves their own mental health, creates a positive environment by helping others in our community we can also strengthen our own sense of belonging.
Steps to get it done:
Achievements so far: *On new years day 2022 Ride to Raise rode 500 miles and raised £2350 for St Luke's Hospice* *Ride to Raise has set up partnerships with 3 homeless shelters, foodbanks and Morrsions Community Champions* *Ride to Raise has been regularly distributing food, drinks and care packages to the homeless in Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Crewe, Nantwich and Northwich from our motorcycles and has helped in excess of 500 people so far this year.
