During the lockdown we have had to close the clubhouse and external facilities. We cannot play cricket so we have no match fees income. In order to ensure the grounds and wickets remain playable for when we are able to play again, we need to pay for the upkeep of the ground, keep machinery repaired and the environment in good shape. This usually costs £200 a week throughout the season, and even with cutting back on costs and expenses, we still need over £400 a month. So we are asking for help to keep the club going just to pay the ground keeping expenses at this stage. As there is no cricket, we are not chasing the annual subscription (£40). Instead we are asking that those who are able to donate what they can afford. £10, £20 or more. Every contribution will help. If you are a supporter, local interested resident or helpful local business, please also help us out with a donation, however large or small. Together we will make it through this.

What we'll deliver:

  • Enable us to fund the Groundsman's expenses
  • Ensure the facilities are protected for when cricket returns
  • Support a cherished local facility

Why it's a great idea:

As a member, past or present, this is your club. Playing or watching your friends and family play, is just a small part of what belonging to a club means. Imagine what things would be like if we couldn't play cricket at Leek Wootton? We owe it to all those who have gone before us to preserve and enhance LWCC, to ensure their legacy is protected. We also owe it to those future players who are yet to discover the joy of cricket in Leek Wootton. Please do your bit and give us some, or all, of this years subscription fees so we can keep going during these tough times. If 30 members put in £20 each we would be able to keep the grounds maintained for the next 6 to 8 weeks, ready for when cricket does eventually return. Every little helps. As a local business or resident, we are blessed to have such a wonderful green space on our doorstep where hundreds or kids and adults take part in cricket during the summer. We MUST preserve it. We can't let Covid-19 beat us.

Steps to get it done:

  • being ready for cricket to be played in July should we be allowed to do so
