Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

The Social Club network has been delivering social media insight and services to the local community since 2014. In Sep16 we committed to delivering talks at primary & secondary schools around London, helping parents to understand how children use social media. We collated valuable information on parental concerns, as well as groundbreaking data on how kids behaving online. We also ran a series of questionnaires with kids discussing issues that they found hard to manage in order to better prepare parents for problems such as Cyberbullying, Depression, Loneliness and Self harm. We give them the knowledge and the skills to look for signs of distress. We have published a book called 'The Social Tattoo' & want to distribute it to schools, with lesson plans so that they can teach the principals, and sell copies of the book to raise funds at a discount. We also want to continue the free presentations but it costs time and money. We need more money to produce giveaways and continue the work

What we'll deliver:

  • Much needed advice to parents of kids in Y5,6,7&8
  • Lesson Plans, books and free presentations
  • Kids merchandise to keep them engaged

Why it's a great idea:

This project is changing the lives of kids that are desperate and lonely as a result of social media. It teaches parents and teachers the signs to look out for that a child is in distress. It offers simple guidance and techniques for parents to help manage their children's interactions, and it teaches the children themselves a principal to stand by tap into when they manage their accounts online. Kids as young as 7 are login on and posting, and depression in children is on the rise. You will help to soften stressful times in a child's development such as starting senior school and help to nurture a safe and secure online experience. You will deliver much-needed research and support and you will make a difference in someone's future by supporting this project. Please help us to teach our children the principals of The Social Tattoo, the consequences of small actions, and the love of family and community.

Steps to get it done:

  • To present at over 150 schools, and reach more that 1000 parents

We want to produce key rings, bracelets, badges and tattoo transfers to give to children that agree to The Social Tattoo. They can wear them with pride and show their commitment to being caring and considerate online. We teach them Responsibility, Respect and the risk of Regret. We want to make social media a more positive experience for young people, and to put pressure on the large social media networks to do more to combat cyberbullying and self-distortion. To buy the book visit www.thesocialtattoo.com or search The Social Tattoo on Amazon. Books are also available to order at all major book stores.
