The idea

We are a CASC and operate as a non-profit club, with money raised being invested into the pitch, pavilion and machinery. We have various running costs, such as insurance, electricity, water, fuel, repairs etc. that we will still have to meet despite no current income from subscriptions, match fees, hiring out the pitch and Clubhouse. All work is done by volunteers. We are therefore seeking donations towards the renewal and upkeep of the facilities, which are enjoyed by the wider community such as staging Kwik Cricket Festivals and other events, as well as for our own cricket club members - both Seniors and Juniors, so that cricket can resume as soon as the lockdown ends - hopefully a little later this summer!

What we'll deliver

  • Keep the pitch mowed and keep the square mowed and rolled
  • Potential weeding and regeneration of outfield
  • Repair and reinstate the nets facilities
  • Maintain the Clubhouse so it is ready for use

Why it's a great idea

Barnstaple & Pilton CC provides recreational weekend and evening cricket for the local community, as well as junior coaching to boys and girls, through it's own programme and ECB's All Stars. This summer should also have seen a new national programme, called Dynamos, for 9-11 year olds in the local area. It is a valuable community asset that needs to be supported through this difficult time, to ensure it is able to continue to offer great value sport for all abilities and age groups.

Steps to get it done

  • To prepare the ground to be ready for casual use and practice
  • To prepare the ground to be ready for formal sporting use
  • To renew the nets practice facility for both junior and senior players
  • To maintain and refurbish the Clubhouse to be in a state of readiness for use
