This outstanding art work - unlike a lot of the Supertrees project - will be visible from outside the space & will lead locals and tourists alike into this Haven in the center of the City. The artist will work with the community to further develop the ideas into the nature based theme of the piece. As the concepts show, the piece will effectively be breaking out of the wall; symbolic of how the Nature behind it is breaking out from it's heavily urbanized environment. It must be said that the quality of this piece cannot be overstated. It's a piece that will draw people in from all over, regardless of the Supertrees and is something that taps into Chester's growing Eco Zeitgeist. Living in a green and beautiful city is absolutely possible and its projects like this that can make it happen.

Why it's a great idea:

We are in the middle of an Climate and Ecological breakdown. A complete collapse of all of our life support networks. The ecosystem's that produce our weather; our produce our clean water, our fresh air are failing. If we are to save it from collapse, the first thing that we have to do is we have to get people to value and love nature. And how do we do that? We bring people face to face with the complexity, the beauty and the importance of the natural world. We have to realize that we part of the natural world and that it exists all around us but the UN tells us that the majority of the Human population - this strange, powerful and stupid species - are urbanized. There are huge numbers of the population that on an average day see no wildlife, besides perhaps a rat or a pigeon. By showing people the beauty of the natural world, people can begin to understand, to value it, to love it and eventually to protect it. That is the benefit to this project. That is why this is needed.
