2010 SPACE began with ideas from 'Friends of Suckley'. Members of Suckley church, Suckley school, Suckley PreSchool, the Village Hall and Toddler Group started putting their ideas together as to how best our village resources could meet the needs of our community. We all realised that our scattered village has a very big warm heart, but it was not easy to bring people together to meet each other and feel part of the same village community.
In 2011 the 'Vision for the Future of Suckley church' launched the idea (of developing the space in the church for community use) at the Village Annual Parish Meeting.
In 2012 the name SPACE (Suckley Parish and Community Enterprises) was adopted. It represented well our vision of the large well situated church space becoming useful to and used by the whole community.
In 2014 the first design plans were drawn up and fundraising began.
October 2016 SPACE was Registered as a charity with the Charity commission in order to broaden the range of potential funders available to help us.
SPACE is a community charity that brings together volunteers from the church community, the school community, and the wider community. It works closely with the Award-winning Suckley Good Neighbour Scheme and its many volunteers.
The church Space is needed by the school to help maintain its outstanding reputation. The income from activities in the Space is needed to keep the church sustainable. Together with the Good Neighbour Scheme we are all working together for mutual benefit and to make our community healthier and more resilient.
