Suckley Good Neighbour Scheme needs YOU
We will help all Suckley residents to keep better connected, especially the vulnerable and socially isolated by giving each home a local info folder and developing IT skills in the community.
About the Project Creator
Suckley Good Neighbour Scheme began in 2010 - an idea from the 'Health and Wellbeing' group as part of the Suckley Community Plan in 2010 - all part of 'Community First - Building better Communities'. "We're here to help you" has been our aim, helping in any way that one might call upon a good neighbour to help. It consists of an organising Committee and multitalented volunteers drawn from many walks of life and interested in helping in different ways. We are all required to have DBS clearance.
In 2016 several of us trained as 'Digital Champions', and in 2018 several of us trained with Citizens Advice as Community Liaison Volunteers.
During the recent pandemic many new Covid-volunteers joined us to help set up a shopping ordering and delivery service so that the needs of the self-isolating and other home based folk could be catered for, as well as providing telephone support to the lonely and anxious. Our established infrastructure (a transferable phoneline with an easy to remember local number that is manned in monthly turns by the Core committee) became a much appreciated shopping and support line too.
