Root 73 is a creative hub, connecting aspiring artists with professional production and video. As a social enterprise we’re driven by a sense of community and feel that music and video production should be affordable for young artists. Based in Hackney East London, we designed and built a professional recording studio, using volunteers. This was funded using money made from community events that showcased artists we’ve worked with. This space allows us to offer artists industry level services at low rates, in addition to advice, equipment access as well as a support network of other artists. As a social enterprise, any money made goes back into the organisation. At present, we all work voluntarily, in the hope that one day we might earn a living from our efforts. We aim to cover our rent costs through our fundraiser events, but we now need to buy some new equipment, so please help us by donating what you can! We are trying to raise £4000 to buy a camera, microphone, and computer

What we'll deliver:

  • Industry level services at affordable rates.
  • Advice, equipment access and a support network.
  • A sense of community.

Why it's a great idea:

Young artists have always been prohibited by the cost of professional production and advise. We bring in young artists, give them the support and tools they need to fulfil the potential of their art, help them focus on their creative talents, and help them to feel part of a community. Over the last two years we’ve gone from working out of a bedroom to running our own professional studio. We want to use this experience to show artists what’s possible! With your donations we’ll be able to upgrade our equipment, allowing us to improve our services and invest more in our community.

Steps to get it done:

  • buying a new computer, a new microphone, and a new camera setup.
  • releasing our first project with the new set up
