StoneCrabs is a registered charity working with international and diverse practitioners to bring challenging and informative work to the stage. StoneCrabs particularly aims to provide up and coming practitioners the support and space to develop their style and voice while establishing themselves in the British theatre industry.
Our charitable purposes are to Foster an appreciation and enjoyment of Theatre Arts and Drama; To provide education in the performing arts, in particular, but not exclusively for young people; Foster the use of Drama as an aid to personal and social development; Encourage the sharing of theatrical and social experiences of the highest standards.
Produced over 30 productions of new writing, adaptations and translations of international work rarely seen in the UK.
We have created paid employment opportunities for over 1000 actors and theatre creatives, 62% of those were creatives and actors from backgrounds that are clearly underrepresented in the current job market.
We have trained 101 directors to date. 90% have gone to secure employment with theatres in the UK, 5% went on to set up their own theatre companies and the remaining 5% opted for a different career. 67% of previous participants were from BAME backgrounds.
Provided theatre activities for over 6,500 children aged 8 – 18 years old and members of our local (Lewisham) and London-wide communities.
All of the above we have achieved without being core funded, meaning that we rely on sponsorship and donations to pay basic costs, such as Internet usage, electricity and rent. The charity is run by a hardworking team of volunteers who believe in creating opportunities and a THEATRE that should function in our society.
Our current resources limit the number of projects we can run and the number of beneficiaries, so YOUR DONATION would mean that we can continue the work we are doing and reach out to many more beneficiaries.
