Red Rose Forest is the community forest for central and western Greater Manchester – one of 12 community forest initiatives originally established across England. We are a partnership between the six local authorities of Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Salford, Trafford and Wigan, alongside the Forestry Commission and Natural England.
We believe passionately that greener towns and cities are better places for everyone. Increasing tree cover and expanding woodland and green space in our urban areas can deliver a broad range of environmental, economic, social and health benefits.
In the last two decades we have planted more than 3 million trees across Greater Manchester - and we have exciting plans to continue this work in the years ahead. We work with national and local partners to ensure there are more trees, woodland, green spaces, parks and nature reserves – and that people have as many opportunities as possible to access this ‘countryside on their doorstep’. At the heart of what we do is community engagement – involving local people, groups and businesses in improving their local environment.
