Chats Palace is a charitable organisation based in the Old Homerton Library - a Grade II listed building in Hackney - established in 1976 to provide arts and education opportunities to the local community. Known for its radical programme in the 1970s and 80s, the venue hosted a programme of jazz, music hall and community theatre with local residents creating an annual summer carnival and Christmas pantomime.

Today, the venue continues to host an eclectic programme of music, dance, theatre, cabaret and education and community workshops. Bands and musicians including, Django Django, Ghost Poet and Stealing Sheep who have recently played to sold out audiences. There are regular events including weekly Swing Dance evenings, monthly family music Famous Times as well as a number of private hires.

The first floor has two studios and offices as well as hosting PhotoChats, a resident arts organisation providing workshops, dark room facilities and regular exhibitions.

During the daytime, Chats Palace is used for education events including karate, ballet and music for young people as well as hosting a range of local community groups and meetings.

Chats Palace is based in one of the most deprived wards in England and but is also one of the fastest changing areas in London, with Chatsworth Road and Clapton becoming a popular place to ‘hang out’ including a thriving high street with independent shops and a Sunday market and a growing local night time economy.
