The idea

The project aims to
• Identify and work with host companies who have underutilized space which could be used for cultural and creative events. We currently have 3 commitments from host sites in Fylde, Blackpool and Chorley.
• Encourage and support host companies to use creative activities to support their own ventures by providing Free or affordable spaces to makers and creatives.
• Deliver 3 FREE cultural and creative experiences in underutilized spaces to communities and to build opportunities to engage communities in experiencing and learning new skills.
• Improve the economic viability of local businesses by using underutilized space to improve customer engagement by providing cultural and creative experiences.
• Develop new routes to market for local creatives for their exhibitions, markets, demonstrations and courses.

What we'll deliver

  • 3 workshop events in 3 locations in Lancashire which are currently underutilized.
  • Free pottery, decoupage, sewing, upcycling, pyrography and growing plants workshops
  • A website that links hosts to creatives to provide cultural events for local communities

Why it's a great idea

The project will benefit the creative community, business community and local community by :-
• Bringing together both business and creative communities to maximise their assets for mutual reward, economic development and increase provision of FREE Creative activities for local communities

This will be achieved by :-
• Creating networks of businesses that have space for use by local creatives to provide pop up or regular markets/selling space/workshop/demonstration space.
• Linking event’s organisers to businesses/landlords to create creative events.
• Increasing the sustainability of the supporting businesses by increasing their footfall, community engagement and customer loyalty.
• Increase the opportunities for the local community to connect with local artisans and makers through free events (markets, demonstrations and workshops)
• Improving the economic viability of local creatives by developing new routes to market.

Steps to get it done

  • Identify 3 Host spaces
  • Deliver 3 Events with demonstrations and workshops at the core.
