Hello, I am Helen Pemberton the founder Stallholderspaces.co.uk. I am also a potter/ceramic artist and offer pottery workshops from my garage. I am personally and painfully aware that small scale creatives lack both space and routes to market. Happily I am also aware that some business owners can benefit greatly from having creatives use their underutilized spaces. I would like to tackle this by linking organisations and business that have underutilized space with creatives.
I set up a pilot project in the very large and underutilized carpark of a local public house and the landlord feels that the value added to his business is invaluable. It has also encouraged 16 small scale, spare room, creatives to sell there work and I hope this goes from strength to strength. I have recently been asked by another business, that has an unused function room, to run an indoor market and workshops for the community, the room comes FOC as they have seen the benefits created at the first site. It became clear that there is a need to link similar business to other event organisers and creatives.
I wish to create a platform (website) to conntect businesses and creatives via www.stallholderspaces.co.uk. The Unique Selling Point of this website and what sets it appart from others is that it/I am actively seeking hosts, (businesses with spaces).
The intention is to create a site that links businesses that have underutilized spaces (car parks, function rooms etc) with events organisers and creatives who can use this space, with mutual benefits and I currently have the increasing support of the a Nationwide Pub Chain and hope to roll out the opportunities to more businesses and creative communities in Lancashire by developing and promoting the website.
Any additional funds raised will be used to improve the website and potentially create a CIC which will aim to create more permenant spaces for local creatives off the back of the networks created by the website.
Thanks for reading
Best regards
Helen Pemberton
