The idea
We aim to appeal to local people who may feel isolated through loneliness, bereavement or illness. St Peter's is a graceful Grade II* Georgian church with a pretty, but neglected garden. By getting together as a group we can improve the green environment as well as provide friendly company for people who might otherwise have an empty day.
Our leader is a very experienced, professional gardener who runs courses elsewhere in the area and she will create a schedule of activities which will reflect the seasons and improve our knowledge of plants, wildlife and care for the environment.
Over time the garden will become more attractive to other local people as it is a designated council green space and is under used at the moment. We will be mindful of our carbon footprint so will compost and recycle when we can and use environmentally friendly products at all times.
The aim of the group will be to befriend and support as well as to teach and learn.
What we'll deliver
- Enhanced garden environment for historic building
- Growing plants for cut flowers
- Planting that will attract pollinators and wild birds
