We're tackling food poverty in Bolton directly by giving people living on housing estates the resources and support to grow their own food. With your help we want to work with 100 families this year.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Last year we worked with 32 families, growing food in their own gardens in partnership with Bolton at Home, working in one of the most challenging neighbourhoods in Bolton. This had a lasting impact and the majority of those families continue to grow and consume their own food. So we're not only tackling food poverty, but influencing behaviour change. Your funding will allow us to work with 100 families across Bolton and develop two food hubs, where we can teach a wider audience about the benefits of growing food. The food hubs will be developed on land donated by Bolton at Home and will act as a focal point for tackling food poverty in those neighbourhoods.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Tackling food poverty in challenging neighbourhoods has multiple benefits: bringing fresh produce to neighbourhood food deserts; changing people's behaviour about food; financial and health benefits to all family members
