At the junction of Southfield and Rugby Roads in Chiswick are two raised flowerbeds owned by Ealiing council. They contain cordylines and agapanthus and a lot of weeds!
We would like to revamp the beds, we'd leave the existing extablish planting - but with some pruning and add ornimental grasses for year round interest, some flowering perenials and bulbs for the summer, and spring bulbs for some interest in the sping.
The plan is to take of the top 10cm of soil, replace it with fresh compost, prune the trees and cordylines and plant up with a variety of drought tolerent grasses.
Step back and admire!
So two things are required: Input from the local community in the form of heavy lifting, delicate planting and money.
We need to raise £400 and we'd like as many local and not so local residents to contibute, with money but also with the clearing nad planting - so they feel invested in the area and wil pick up a crisp packet off the beds or pull out a weed as they walk past.
This really will be a "many hands make light work" project and it will hopefully introduce neighbours to neighbours and make for a friendlier community.
