The Community Table CIC is a purpose-driven social enterprise dedicated to tackling food insecurity, reducing food waste, and fostering civic pride across the Lincolnshire coast. Based at 30 Victoria Road in Mablethorpe, we operate a dignity-first Social Supermarket.
Unlike traditional food banks, which can often feel stigmatising, we use a subsidised, membership-based points system. This allows local residents experiencing financial hardship to shop with autonomy, choosing the exact fresh, chilled, frozen, and ambient groceries their families need at a fraction of high-street costs. We bridge the gap between emergency food aid and standard retail, creating a warm, vibrant community hub where everyone is welcome.
The community gave us an unmistakable mandate: we signed up 400 active household members in our first 8 weeks alone.
We became hyper-focused on doing one thing exceptionally well: building a resilient social supermarket that can sustainably feed hundreds of families every single week.
We aren’t running this campaign to fund a temporary fix or look for a long-term subsidy. We are running it to secure the foundation of a self-sustaining business engine.
Our model works: the micro-revenues generated on our shop floor from daily trading are designed to be completely reinvested into buying surplus groceries to restock our shelves. However, as a young startup, our heaviest fixed anchor is commercial high-street rent.
By crowdfunding our rent through Spacehive, you are buying us the vital runway we need. Removing this fixed overhead means 100% of our daily trading income goes directly back into food logistics and inventory. Your backing doesn't just pay a landlord—it unlocks our independence, ensuring we can protect our shelves, support our volunteers, and guarantee food security for our 400+ members for the long haul.
