The idea
We currently support over 250 Young Carers aged 5 to 18 years old, across the Dover district. These amazing young people experience multiple levels of disadvantage because of their caring responsibilities.
A Young Carer is someone who looks after another person because they’re sick, or have a disability or mental health issues. Or, if a parent or family member has an alcohol or drug problem, they may be unable to care for themselves or anyone else.
Currently the work we do is not funded and we are running a limited service but we want to give them the best support we can by enhancing our weekly groups and providing an outreach programme for those who can not attend our sessions.
The outreach programme will be in the form of 'Creative Care Packages', sent out in the post, containing art and wellbeing activities, art materials and local support information. This will make our Young Carers feel valued and connected to us every time one of our exciting packages drops through the door.
What we'll deliver
