The idea
The food banks in Westmorland and Lonsdale are facing increasing demands. South Lakes Labour wants to raise money to help them provide the food that is needed by an increasing number of residents across our area. As an example of local need, in its first year, King’s Food Bank in Kendal distributed 7340 meals to people - a number which increases year on year, whilst food banks at Grange, Milnthorpe and Windermere also supported people in need in their towns.
What we'll deliver
- We will deliver funds to the food banks to be able to provide food for those who need it.
Why it's a great idea
This will help needy families to survive through the difficult times ahead. The current COVID-19 crisis is creating a bigger demand for food bank support as people are laid off. If we can help ease the strain for those families we will have achieved our aim.
Steps to get it done
- Contact our local foodbanks to arrange to pass over funds to each of them in proportion to their needs.
