The idea

Here at Skelmanthorpe Cricket Club, we are looking to make changes for those who may struggle with stairs. For those who are local you are all aware of one of our top supporters Liam, who is unable to come into the club or use our toilets. This is due to us not being wheelchair friendly. We want to change this, not just for Liam but for anybody who finds stairs a difficulty. We are looking to raise money to help build disability access into the club, as well as a disabled toilet. We will be building a ramp which will lead up onto the balcony just outside the entrance of the pavilion, which will then see a large double door entrance ensuring that we are wheelchair friendly. We have plans in place to make this happen, we just need help to make it a reality. At the moment we sadly have no facilities for wheelchair needs or anybody that struggles to use stairs. Any kind of donation, big or small would be greatly appreciated and every penny goes towards this build. Thank you in advance

What we'll deliver

  • A ramp which leads up to the entrance of the pavilion
  • Large double doors at the centre of the club which will allow wheelchair access
  • Installation of a disabled toilet

Why it's a great idea

This project will allow us to become disabled friendly. At the moment we are sad to say we are unable to welcome wheelchair access or anybody that is unable to climb stairs. This project allows is to change that and welcome everybody's needs that may occur.

Steps to get it done

  • To first build the ramp at the front in order to access shelter
  • To buy the double doors and materials to adapt the entrance for wheelchair users
  • To then build a disabled toilet
